ANNEC Signs Supply Contract for 4350m³ External Combustion Hot Blast Stove Refractories with Paul Wurth in India
On November 25, 2023, ANNEC signed a contract with the Italy company Paul Wurth to supply refractories for the core components of three external combustion hot blast stoves, totaling 4350m³, for a steel plant in India.
Paul Wurth is an internationally renowned metallurgical engineering and technology company, having undertaken major blast furnace reconstruction projects for Indian steel companies such as JSW and JSL in recent years. The blast furnace in this project has a capacity of 4350m³ and is equipped with three Coble-style external combustion hot blast stoves. After years of operation, issues such as brick detachment at the connection pipe port, collapse of various openings, and damage to burners have emerged. In the preliminary stages, ANNEC and Paul Wurth engaged in multiple discussions regarding the project's related technologies, drawing optimizations, and more. Paul Wurth's design engineers adopted ANNEC's design optimization suggestions. ANNEC's cone cylinder rotary cutting top combustion hot blast stove with ultra-low emissions: The third-party authoritative test report
In September 2020, China presented the "peak carbon dioxide emissions" goal for 2030 and the "carbon neutrality" goal for 2060 to the world. For the steel industry, it is no longer just about quality and output, but also about meeting the requirements of energy conservation, carbon reduction, and environmental protection.
In September 2022, the Ironmaking Branch of the China Society for Metals organized a seminar in Beijing on the energy-saving and emission-reduction technology of hot blast stoves. The conference emphasized the importance of low-pollution and low-emission technologies in the development of energy-saving technologies for hot blast stoves. ANNEC was invited to participate and delivered a report titled "Energy-saving and Environmental Protection Technology of Top Combustion Hot Blast Stove," providing a detailed analysis of the ways and potentials of energy-saving and emission reduction for hot blast stoves. The report also highlighted the technical application and ultra-low emission cases of the cone cylinder rotary cutting top combustion hot blast stove jointly developed by ANNEC and CERI.
A certain steel enterprise in Shanxi has equipped three cone cylinder rotary cutting top combustion hot blast stoves with its blast furnace, which have been in operation for over a year since 2022. Recently, a third-party monitoring agency conducted online tests on the gas emission composition indicators of the hot blast stove system and issued a CMA test report.
The test report showed that the arch top temperature of the hot blast stove was between 1302-1323°C, and the air supply temperature was between 1213-1228°C. The average content of NOx in the flue gas was less than 30mg/Nm³, which is more than 80% lower than the national ultra-low emission standard of 150mg/Nm³, creating significant economic and social benefits for customers.
One of the hot blast stoves of a certain steel enterprise in Hebei adopts a design similar to the Kalugin hot blast stove, with a CO emission level consistently higher than 3000mg/Nm³, exceeding the local emission standard limit of 500mg/Nm³. Under environmental policy control, the plant couldn't operate normally and had to shut down due to immense environmental pressure. After receiving notification from the owner, ANNEC conducted a detailed three-day on-site survey of all hot blast stove of blast furnace, comprehensively understanding various design and operating parameters. Mathematical modeling studies were conducted on the combustion conditions of hot blast stoves under different operating systems, revealing varying degrees of defects in the design of the combustion system. ANNEC formulated a transformation plan for the cool-off, maintenance, and dry-off of the hot blast stove, and under extremely limited conditions, completed the transformation of the hot blast stove burner in 35 days (15 days each for the cool-off and dry-off). The CO content in the flue gas under different operating conditions after the transformation was lower than 350mg/m³, a reduction of 88% compared to before the transformation. Currently, discussions are ongoing with the owner regarding CO transformation projects for several other hot blast stoves, aiming to reduce CO emissions by over 85% in each hot blast stove's flue gas.

At 16:16 on May 8, 2021, the new construction project of 1# and 3# blast furnace HBS of Shiheng Special Steel Group Co., LTD was successfully ignited. The project was EPCC by Zhengzhou Anke Industrial Co., LTD.
The capacity of no. 1 and no. 3 furnaces is 1350m³, equipped with 3 HBS. In order to achieve the goal of reducing energy consumption, 6 HBS of no. 1 and no. 3 furnaces have been upgraded and transformed by means of the overhaul of furnaces, and Annec provides EP service. After the technological upgrading of hot blast stove, the average mixed air supply temperature is more than 1200 degrees, which effectively reduces the blast furnace fuel ratio and is expected to bring economic benefits of 25 million RMB/year for Shiheng Special Steel.

MAGNITOGORSK IRON AND STEEL WORKS PUBLIC JOINT STOCK COMPANY (MMK) is located on Chelyabinsk Russia, found in 1929. It is one of the biggest steel supplier on the world, It is also the leader of the Russian steel industry. There are 2 site Internal Combustion Type HBSs and 2 site Top Combustion HBSs.
This project will upgrade the Internal Combustion Type HBSs to ANNEC type Top Combustion HBSs. This project will be designed, supply equipment and materials, service by ANNEC. The flow temperature is more than 1250℃. The service time is more than 30 years.

2021 is the start of “The 14th Five-year Plan”.Annec still working on his target“Continuously Promote R&D of HBS Technology an Progress in Refractory.”.We got 13 HBSs projects and 75K Tons refractory materials in Jan and Feb, and then got 5 HBSs projects in Mar. All 10 HBS sites also processing in these times as the plan. This is a good start of ANNEC. Also is good beginning of the work in 2021.
In 01st.Mar.2021, ANNEC got a bid from Linyi Steel. The EPC of this Project is MCC, the partner of ANNEC. ANNEC supply the design for 4 HBSs and 15k Tons refractory materials in this order.
In 07th.Mar.2021, The shell of 1#HBS in 3# Furnace of ZENITH had successfully capped. The next step is constructed the refractory bricks. The EPC of this project is CISDI Group, This project including 12 HBSs of 3 Furnaces with 2400m³volume. All the refractory materials in total 43k Tons are supplied by ANNEC. Total 8 HBSs in 2# and 3# furnace use the Technology from ANNEC.
In 10th Mar 2021, Phase II Construction Project of KISC had capped. The body of the HBS had begun already. The next work is constructing the refractory bricks. ANNEC supply the technology and 13k Tons materials to one HBS with 2500m³ volume.
In 13th Mar 2021, 4 HBSs of 1# furnace in Great Dong Hai Corporation project capped. This project have 2 site HBSs in 1260 volume. The EPC and the refractory materials 24k tons are supplied by ANNEC.
In 14th Mar 2021, ANNEC got the HBSs upgrade project of 4# furnace in Xinyang Steel. ANNEC supplied refractories more than 2000 tons.
